In this blog I want to talk about some books I have enjoyed reading that have given me very practical advice and helped develop me professionally. Since coming to college, I have been given many book recommendations, and these have been my four best reads so far.
The first one is a true classic, it taught me the power of listening to others, and helping me see things from others’ point of view. After reading this book, I learned how to craft win-win situations and how one can learn something from every person on this planet. Most importantly, the practical advice in this book taught me how to make the most of any situation.
In this book, I learned how to realize all of the intentions behind my actions. It helped me look at different organizations I am a part of, and figure out how to make the most of my leadership positions by starting with the why of my organizations. I was able to dig deeper and learn what inspires me and those around me, and then make sure my actions reflected that why.
The best personal finance book out there, this read made me change my mindset about my personal finances. It provides very practical ways to have your money work for you, rather than having you work for money. With personal finance often seeming complex, Rich Dad Poor Dad uses simple language, like explaining that an asset is something that puts money in your pocket, while a liability is something that takes money out of your pocket.
I saved the best for last. This is my favorite book I have read, and this one taught me the power of genuine relationships. Networking can often be seen as a dirty word, but this book explains how it can be done properly to help everyone involved. If you like How to Win Friends & Influence, I believe this book is a great follow up.
Those are 4 books that I have really enjoyed so far. These are all super popular books with most of them having millions of copies sold around the world. If you have any other book recommendations, please put them below in the comments as I would love to see what others are reading.
